Medite Plus Medite Plus MDF is a specially engineered panel with an extra-smooth surface finish. Enhanced specifically after years of careful research, Medite Plus gives superior results with both traditional wood-based finishes and sophisticated powder coating processes. Its consistent high quality and fine machining properties offer wide design freedom. Developed at Medite’s world class MDF facility in Clonmel, Medite Plus broadens the range of the Medite family of high performance MDF products. Applications Designed to maximise the sophisticated finishing processes of the powder coating industry and providing similar screwholding capabilities, along with off-the machine finishes comparable with some of the world’s finest hardwoods. Medite Plus additionally has properties that can be further exploited by processors where superior strength characteristics, intricate shaping, edge profiling, face routing to the finest detail and membrane pressing may be required. Performance Medite Plus is suitable for use in internal dry conditions as defined in EN 622 parts 1 and 5. Boards of this type are suitable for use in Hazard Class 1 of EN 335-3. Appearance Medite Plus retains the light tan colour of the wood fibre from which it is manufactured. Conditioning The moisture content of Medite Plus is in the range of 7% +/- 2% at the time of manufacture. Changes in dimensions of wood and wood-based sheet materials occur due to changes in relative humidity. For this reason, Medite Plus panels should be conditioned to the final environment for two to three days before cutting and fixing. Machining/finishing Cut or profiled edges of Medite Plus should first be sanded with 150-240 grit, prior to painting. The recommended coating system for the edges is to seal, prime and topcoat with de-nibbing in between coats to produce a smooth finish. The desired finish on the face can be achieved by application of a base-coat and top-coat. If water-based coatings are used, it is important that forced drying or quickdrying systems be applied in order to maintain the quality of surface.
